Paintless Dent Repair(PDR) is designed to bring the metal back flush with the original panel surface without the use of paints or fillers/bondo. Furthermore the process accomplishes this without paint cracking or destruction provided the original paint has no existing weaknesses in it from external damage or environmental causes.
Both large and small dents can be repaired, assuming there’s sufficient access to the dent from beneath the panel(to be determined by a PDR technical person), and that the actual panel has no more than surface damage. Any panel that has been altered to the point of bending edges in or distorting the overall shape, may need an actual body shop, to do the repairs.
Scratch Repair / Removal
Scratches and paint chips can also be addressed during the dent repair process (NOT as a stand alone service). Although our repairs to scratches and chips in the paint will never fulfill the purposes of a new paint job, they will help restore the beauty of the panel and protect against rust. We advise that you never attempt to do your own dent or paint repairs without consulting a professional. Doing repairs on your own may make a repairable surface, unrepairable or more expensive to repair using PDR or the body shop.
*Dents Charlotte provides scratch removal or improvement only as a complimentary service to our dent repair services. Scratches must be related to the actual dent damage being repaired. Hail Damage:
Dents Charlotte is pleased to provide hail repair to your vehicle. In the case that your vehicle is caught in a hail storm, service is available to get your car completely repaired in as little as one day. Rapid repair of hail dents is the best way to save time, money, need for rental cars, and keep your paint original. As a general rule, hail damage does not occur w/ hail less than .75inch diameter. Dents beyond 2 inches in diameter and that are caused by hail damage also do not generally repair as effectively as smaller damage. Any side molding, or accessories that are not a part of the actual body surface metal of the car are usually purchased separately and re-installed new.
There are several steps involved in repairing hail damage. We begin by removing the liners from your roof, hood, and trunk. After liners are removed the dents are restored by a technical process of re-establishing the original flexible threshold of the dent to match that of the normal surface on your vehicle. This should not affect your paint in any way. Dents can be removed from sheet metal, and aluminum panels, although aluminum is more labor intensive and at increased cost. The panels are Quality Control checked for intended appearance of original design, liners are re-installed, and the vehicle is cleaned for delivery.
Insurance companies often prefer Paintless Dent Removal(PDR) for hail damaged cars due to the cost and time savings involved.
